L.A. Noire is Rockstar’s first title to be released on the Nintendo Switch. The game was released a few years ago on PS3, Xbox 360, and other platforms. It is highly praised for offering an optimal gaming experience, faithful to the original, on a portable console like the Nintendo Switch.
In L.A. Noire, you play a police officer who joins the force and whose main mission is to investigate criminal cases. You will progress from a simple patrol officer to a traffic cop, and then to a detective in the homicide division. Playing a police officer is a particularly interesting experience. It’s very different from other Rockstar games, where destruction and killing are the norm. Here, you are serving the public.
Each case begins with a crime scene that you examine. You look for clues, ask questions, and take notes. You identify the people and locations involved, and then you interrogate them. The game uses a facial recognition system to determine if a suspect is lying or telling the truth. Based on the evidence and clues, you decide whether to interrogate, prosecute, or release them.
Overall, despite its apparent simplicity, L.A. Noire. Noire’s gameplay is unique. The interactions between characters and their dialogue are captivating. Most of the investigations are engaging and keep you on the edge of your seat. Furthermore, the city and its historical context are beautifully rendered, and the plot concludes with a satisfying resolution. The atmosphere even becomes somewhat unsettling as you delve deeper into the events.
L.A. Noire is a must-play if you enjoy detective games. It’s one of the best single-player games on the Switch.
