About this Game
Axiom Verge is an indie game inspired by Metroid, created by developer Thomas Happ. Developed and published by a single person, it is available on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch.
You play as Trace, a scientist who accidentally finds himself on an alien planet after an explosion in his laboratory. After encountering a strange alien race manifesting as an invisible, mechanical face, he agrees to help them stop an enemy named Athetos from destroying their planet. That’s the basic premise. As you progress, more details will be revealed.
During your adventure, you’ll explore the planet, collect new weapons, upgrade your powers, and battle monsters. Axiom Verge is very similar to Metroid on the NES, but its unique gameplay and great difficulty make it even more engaging.
As you progress through the game, you’ll unlock new features for the Axiom Disruptor. For example, you might find a drill to break blocks and a grappling hook to swing across chasms. Each new skill increases your mobility, eventually allowing you to explore the entire world. Some areas are only accessible after unlocking new tools.
