About this Game
NanoApostle: A young woman wakes up in the bowels of a strange research facility. She isn’t an ordinary girl; she’s a science experiment in which a biomechanical entity has been implanted in her body. This entity has turned her into a killing machine – a necessity, since the only way to escape the facility is to defeat a series of prototype war machines. With help from another failed experiment, she must find a way to destroy them while uncovering the origin of the alien memories in her mind.
Nano Apostle is a top-down action game with combat-oriented gameplay. It’s primarily a boss rush game, although it does include some more conventional side missions to unlock customization options. The bosses are the main draw: technically demanding battles against terrifying mechanical creatures.
The character’s basic moves include standard attack combos, ranged attacks, dodging, and blocking, along with special abilities that are unlocked as the story progresses. An important mechanic is the weak point system. Standard attacks deal little damage, so the only way to win within a reasonable amount of time is to exploit a weakness that appears during specific enemy attacks or after a series of consecutive blocks. Hitting the enemy when this weak point appears deals massive damage and stuns them, opening the door for further attacks. However, the weak point does not remain exposed for long and may require a specific type of attack to exploit.
What really sets Nano Apostle apart from similar games is the design. The bosses can be truly terrifying and macabre, offering extremely bloody finishers when the player defeats them.
